I prefer babies be sleeping as much as possible through the session. Mainly because newborns eye sight isn’t quite dialed in within the first week of life. When their eyes are open they tend to wander or go cross eyed (as most first time parents will recall thinking, “Call the Dr. what’s wrong with her eyes?!”) But as I tell most my clients I am not in charge of the sessions, I merely guide and then follow what baby does. This wide eyed girl was determined that I capture her awake, and looking at those eyes you can see why. Eventually, as they often do, she did drift off to sleep.
This family also has a deep rooted relationship with Disney so they brought a few sentimental items to incorporate. When they told me her nursery is based on Alice in Wonderland I went on a hunt in an attempt to create a realistic image from the story. I am so excited that it will become a center piece canvas in her room!
